My mother’s CA 19-9 was 46 three months ago and after installation of 2 stents in her hepatic duct the CA19-9 became 36. What does this mean?

CA 19-9 is a tumor marker which is generally raised in cancers of the Gastro-intestinal system. Normal cut off CA 19-9 is 37U/ml. It is raised in other non-cancerous conditions like biliary obstruction, cirrhosis, pancreatitis etc. so further tests are done to know the cause of increased CA 19-9 level.
