Recurrence of AML Leukaemia

My son (7 years) has AML leukaemia. He recently got his central line removed is in remission now. Do I need to worry about him getting it back? What percentage of children get it back? Should I be worried?

We are so sorry to hear about your son's diagnosis at such a young age. Do let us know if we can guide you in any way.
In response to your question, leukaemias do recur and in such cases, doctors may recommend further chemotherapy and/or bone marrow transplant. A regular follow up evaluation is recommended for patients under remission. Therefore, we would advise you to meet with your oncologist regularly for consistent evaluation.
