Survival rate of localized lung cancer

  • I was diagnosed with lung cancer. Can you please tell me the survival rate if the cancer is localized?

  • Hi Vineet, I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. The survival rate depends upon lung cancer cell of origin (small cell/non-small cell) and the stage at diagnosis. The 5-year overall survival rate in limited stage small cell carcinoma is around 20%. The 5-year survival rate in stage 1 and 2 non-small cell carcinoma ranges from 50 to 70% whereas for stage 3 it is approximately 9 to 16%.
Do let us know if we can assist you with anything else. Take care!
