Cancer Stages

  • What are the different stages of cancer?

  • Hey, thank you for posting your question on our forum. In response to your query, staging of cancer is done to understand and quantify the extent of disease in an individual. It helps standardize communication in medical records and determine the future outlook of the disease, an appropriate treatment plan, and the expected outcome of the treatment.

AJCC (American Joint Committee on Cancer) is the most commonly followed staging system. It consists of four stages, i.e., stage 1 to stage 4. Stages 1 and 2 are the early stages of cancer, stage 3 is the locally advanced stage, and stage 4, the last stage, is when the cancer has spread to other distant organs.

    Hope this information is helpful.
